Two options, one choice.

Two options were presented to me recently requiring me to make an incredibly difficult easy choice. The options were:

1) Perform in Theatre Under the Stars‘ production of Singing in the Rain this summer – or -
2) Attend my friend Melinda’s wedding back in Muskoka, Ontario.

It was confirmed for me that I couldn’t do both. I’d have to miss one show to attend the wedding and that just wasn’t going to fly with the directorial team (which is totally legit in my books).

After not being in theatre for 8 years and stumbling through the audition process, I was pretty ecstatic about the idea that I would get to spend 2 months performing on stage again! However, my excitement about landing a role was nothing in comparison to Melinda’s excitement about landing a husband! While her wedding is only one day, it will be 24 hours that will last a lifetime. (And look how frickin’ adorable these two are!)

Some decisions are difficult when the glitz and glamour begin to influence our value system. We look for what is sexy, popular, or pleasing in others’ eyes and forget what is really important to us. We make easy decisions difficult by adding in variables or trying to please everyone. At the end of the day, you are the one who has to live with the decision, so be sure you are making it confidently and grounding it in your own values.

And for the record, I’ll take spending one momentous day with my amazing travel companion/free hug enthusiast over 2 months on stage any day. There’s no contest!
