Christmas Tunes to Add to your Playlists

As you may have guessed from my pick of the posts I have a serious addiction to new music. As I plan my Christmas parties and other festivities, I’m also reminding myself of the power music has on communities and planning my playlists accordingly. I am currently hunting down the right tunes for each mood, so thought I should share some of my favs with you.

Pump it for the Party:

I like to turn up these tunes to get people boppin’ along while they have a nice glass of wine in hand:

Andy Williams – We Need a Little Christmas
Lenka – All My Bells Are Ringing
Michael Buble – Let It Snow
Straight No Chaser – Santa Claus is Coming to Town
N’Sync – Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays (gotta love a flashback!)

Setting the Mood:

If you are wrapping presents, writing Christmas cards, or just conversing over hot choco (and peppermint schnapps), try these mellow tunes:

Chris Tomlin – Angels We Have Heard On High
Dave Matthews Band – Christmas Song
Casting Crowns – Away in a Manger
Colbie Caillat – Mistletoe
Sarah McLaughlin – Song for a Winter’s Night

Created for Commuters:

If you are like me and bus to work, you know that your iPod needs to have a great playlist to start your day off right. These songs have just enough umph to put a holiday hop into your step as you head into work:

Barenaked Ladies – God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings
Ron Sexsmith – Maybe this Christmas
MercyMe – Silent Night
Relient K – Sleigh Ride
David Archuleta – Melodies of Christmas
Glee Cast – Last Christmas (already sad there won’t be more episodes until April…)

Ho Ho Hilarious!

Every year, I find myself downloading more spin-off songs that just make me laugh. Here are my favs -slash- guilty pleasures.

Dixie Chicks – Merry Xmas From the Family
Muppets Christmas – It Feels Like Christmas
The Maine – Santa Stole My Girlfriend
Straight No Chaser – The 12 Days of Christmas

What Christmas tunes make your season merry and bright?
