This week has been packed with so many amazing opportunities that ideas for new articles are just waiting to be published. But before I started writing on them all, I had to write about the one that still gives me an endorphin high just thinking about it: being 2nd row in GM Place for the Jason Mraz concert last night.
Note: This concert marked the sixth time I have seen Mr. A-Z live. I have seen him three times prior in Vancouver, again on a roadtrip to Denvor, CO to the inaugural Mile High Music Festival, and most recently at an intimate and impromptu show in Paris, France while I was there this past summer. The best thing is that each show fills me with gratitude, provides me with perspective, and gives me a nice jolt of positive energy. How could you not want to experience that again and again!?!
Showing up two hours before the show got me prime standing room to watch the performance. But as my blackberry buzzed, and my digital camera shut off, I soon realized that charging your electronics is an important pre-show habit I hadn’t mastered quite yet. It hit me as Bushwalla entered onto the stage that I would not have any pictures or updates from the concert. Sad day.
That being said, as the concert got started with an awesome opening performance by K’Naan, I realized that “unplugging” actually helped me enjoy the concert more. Distractions and constant connections were removed. I could be completely present and let the experience move me.
His concert, simply put, was inspiring. Strong lyrics, engaging talent, and good vibes all around.
At the end of the show, the disappointment of not having a functioning camera faded away as my remarkable roommate handed me the concert set list!! He got it from Leroy (Jason Mraz’s drummer) as they were disassembling the stage. A-freakin-mazing! It will be framed alongside the other set list we have from his last Vancouver show to constantly remind me of two things:
1) Some memories are made to be just that
2) There is nothing better than sharing remarkable experiences with even more remarkable friends.
Thanks again to everyone who made the night what it was.
