Taking the stress out of life

Victoria Labalme said it best when she noted that being “busy” these days has become a status symbol. “The busier you are, the more important you appear to be.” We tell our friends, family members and colleagues that our work (or life) is crazy, busy, or nuts because it somehow makes us feel more productive and important. Even though we’re not being either of the two.

As we well know though, being “crazy, busy, nuts” is a stressful state to be in. And, for most of us, there never seems to be a way to slow down. Deadlines need to be met. Work needs to get done. And you are the one in charge of doing it all.

That being said, the words we use define our thinking. If we keep saying we are crazy, busy, nuts – we will keep thinking we are crazy, busy, nuts and our stress levels will continue to rise. So stop using the words crazy, busy or nuts! The next time someone asks you “how was your day today,” instead of quickly saying “it was so busy” say something like “there are a lot of deadlines coming up, but I think I got a handle on things.”

I have loved the last week and a half at work because I haven’t been using the words crazy, busy, or nuts at all and MAN has it been grand! My colleagues say I am just “denying reality,” but I say I’m just “denying a stressed out lifestyle.” If my mindset and life are impacted by the words I use, I’m gonna make sure I pick the ones I want to live by.

Pick of the post: Madonna ft. Kanye West – Beat Goes On (listen here) … Kanye’s interlude is the best part!

This is brilliant- thank you! What happened to; “How was your day?” “Good, thanks!”

It gets to the point that it makes you tired to just hear about how “busy” someone is. We get it. Who isn’t?

Like a price war, the “who is busier” war is a dangerous path to go down…
