Beauty in the details

I love music videos. Period. My dream when I was little was to work as a creative director on music videos for an interesting artist. Note: Interesting artists range from local cover artists to international award winners – that’s the beauty in being “interesting.”

Music videos inspire me for a variety of reasons but one of the main reasons is that each frame, each screen shot, has the ability to tell it’s own story. When pulled together, they create a masterpiece. Images compliment the lyrics, tempo compliments the tone – supporting each other without either of them taking precedent. Following Jess Sloss on twitter, he pointed me to the music video below – one made completely of stop motion photographs. Its details are amazing and worth 3 minutes in my opinion:

As Amanda Marshall once quoted in her song, Gypsy: “The finest tapestry takes patience and the ability to wait for each thread to support the bigger picture and the larger purpose.” Each thread may not be beautiful or supportive on it’s own, but it serves a purpose.

Details are there for a reason. Each person in your life is also there for a reason. Determining their larger role in your life takes patience and trust that there is a bigger picture and a larger purpose. It’s masterpieces like you that are made of amazing details.
