Last night I headed to Di’Metrics Studios to celebrate Keith Leinweber’s birthday with some friends. We were also there to show our support for Keith as he celebrates the life of grandmother who recently passed away. She loved that he played music, so he rocked out just for her.
Keith is not only an incredible designer, amazing person to work with, but is also a frickin awesome musician. He is in a band called Warless – a band dedicated to using music to make the world a slightly better place. Their positivity, smooth lyrics, and great stage presence just make you want to dance around with a beer in hand. And that is exactly what we did!
Te’a, another great local artist, was one of their opening acts (who also performed at the UBC Alumni Achievement Awards during the pre-reception). She’s a jazzy mix of India Arie and Amy Winehouse – just less cracked out.
… and then the cops came and broke up the party! Oh – what a night in East Van!
